FOOD & FAITH: A DIALOGUE BETWEEN MUSLIMS AND JEWS. Monday, January 30, 2017 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Arnold Hall, 96 Wentworth Street, Charleston, SC 29424.
Join Muslim and Jewish students and community members for an informal exploration of cultural and religious points of contact. Enjoy tasty samples of traditional Jewish and Muslim dishes while learning about commonalities between the dietary laws of Halal and Kashrut. Breakout groups will discuss issues beyond food, including Jewish and Muslim practices of prayer, pilgrimage, clothing, holy days, scripture, and charity. Local Rabbi Michael Davies, Charleston Imam Abdel Majid, and College of Charleston Chair of Religious Studies Elijah Siegler guide this important dialogue.
